Once again on a warm summer evening not so long ago, a warm glow fell over the Mount Vernon High School tennis courts for the SVTA Summer Tennis Championships. Three teams gathered to battle, the way tennis players do, on courts of green and blue. Sedro-Woolley jumped out to an early lead three games to Burlington’s one and Mount Vernon was left dragging up the rear with zero wins. Suddenly, the Mount Vernon girls started knocking down wins, one after another. When the dust settled, it was a tie for the lead with Sedro-Woolley 3, Mount Vernon 3 and Burlington 1. As of everyone knows, there are no ties in tennis, a tie breaker there must be, so with a quick count of total games, Mount Vernon ended up winning it all with a 55 to 37 game victory! Everyone had great night of tennis, food and fun. Tuesday, July 26th marked the end of the 16th year SVTA Summer High School Team Tennis 2022 season.
